Who Can Perform an Intervention?
Many interventions have been performed without the presence of a health
care professional. However, it is a good idea to seek advice from
someone who has experience with the process. That does not mean
you need to hire a "professional" interventionist who will charge you $100 per
half hour, just for a consultation. Organizations such as AA, NA and Alanon have
enormous experience in these matters.
Educating yourself about
intervention is of the greatest value to you and the other people who will participate
during the intervention. By having your own "ammunition", you can assure
everything has been planned correctly and maximize your chance of success.
Please
remember, just because you research intervention does not mean you have to commit to
actually organizing one for your loved one. So, obtain the literature necessary so
that you can decide what to do.
